Our Places — Privacy Policy

The short version: your data belongs to you. We never see it. Our Places has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Everything you save stays on your device and in your own iCloud account.

What the app stores, and where

Our Places lets you save places (such as restaurants, cafés, or campsites) with notes, categories, menu entries, and photos. This content is stored:

• On your device, in the app's private database; and
• In your personal iCloud account (Apple CloudKit), if you are signed into iCloud, so your list syncs across your devices and can be shared with people you choose.

Your iCloud data is stored in Apple's infrastructure under your Apple ID. We (the developer) have no technical ability to read, access, or export it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data we collect

None. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The app contains no third-party SDKs, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.

Device permissions the app asks for

• Location (while using the app) — used only to center the map near you and show nearby saved places. Your location is never stored or transmitted to us.
• Camera — used only when you choose to take a photo to attach to a place. Photos are saved with your data (device + your iCloud), never sent to us.
• Photo library — accessed through Apple's photo picker, which only shares the specific photos you select.

All permissions are optional; the app works without them (with reduced functionality).

Sharing with other people

If you use the sharing feature, your list is shared through Apple's iCloud sharing (CloudKit) with the specific people you invite. Participants you invite can view and edit the shared list, including places, notes, and photos. You can stop sharing at any time from within the app or your iCloud settings. Sharing happens directly through Apple — we are not involved and cannot see shared content.

Apple Maps

Place search and the "Open in Apple Maps" feature use Apple's MapKit and Apple Maps. Search queries are processed by Apple under Apple's Maps privacy terms; they are not visible to us.

Children

Our Places is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone (including children) — because it does not collect data at all.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives only on your device and in your iCloud account, you are in full control. Deleting content in the app deletes it from your device and iCloud sync. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device; iCloud data can be removed via the app before deletion or through your iCloud storage settings.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and the app's App Store listing before the change takes effect.
